January 30, 2008 Miami, FL Security Solutions International (SSI) will be hosting a 2-day version of its popular workshop for First Responders in Anaheim on February 14&15th. Local law enforcement officials will have the opportunity to learn about the Jihadist threat from an international expert.
As security personnel in California and across the country are becoming increasingly aware, the threat of terrorist actions affects both at home and abroad. New realities call for new tactics exercised by proactive homeland security agencies at the federal, state, and local level. SSI, having previously partnered on SWAT training exercises with the Anaheim Police Department, will present a workshop dealing with the Jihadi threat from a wide angle previously unexposed to First Responders - treating the threat as a process with a foreseeable lifecycle, rather than as an incident.
As SSI President Henry Morgenstern explains, “This foreseeable lifecycle can be broken down into a set of techno-intelligence signatures - signs, indications and traces foretelling a future terror incident that is about to take place. This analytical perspective can give law enforcement agencies a distinct advantage in response and prevention planning.”
As the threat of home-grown, self-radicalized Jihadist terror cells grows, the place to look for these techno-intelligence signatures is the local community, by the people who live within it or correspond with it on a daily basis. For these reasons, in combating home grown terror, First Responders are the first and last line of defense. Jihad 2.0 is about knowing the enemy, the first step towards "connecting the dots" and ultimately - saving lives. The workshop highlights the need alertness to all stages of the Jihadi threat lifecycle, at all levels, utilizing a wide variety of information sources fused into a complete threat analysis. It is, therefore, highly relevant to all members of the counter-terrorism community who wish to acquire, and effectively apply, the innovative counter-measures that are required in order to win the war on terror currently being fought.
Workshop topics include: · Introduction - Why is the Internet so commonly used? · The Cyber Sanctuary - Introduction to Jihad on the Web o What makes an intelligence threat? o Terror for Dummies - terror techniques made easy o Jihadi intelligence gathering over the Web o Jihadi post incident analysis and lessons learnt · Drawing the Dots: Intelligence collection complexities o Technical and operational capabilities vs. intentions o Techno intelligence signatures o Collection complexities · Connecting the Dots - What can be done? o Know your enemy o On-line threat board updating o Innovative 360o analysis techniques o Techno intelligence signatures o Red team approach to counter measures
