I want to thank you all for the opportunity to attend the Israel security training. On both a professional and a personal level the training was outstanding. I don't think anyone can understand the issues that Israel has to deal with as a nation without the firsthand experience. The complexity of the training was invaluable to learning why there is a constant threat of terrorism for all Israeli citizens and how different security factions with in Israel have learned to take steps to prevent terrorism for their perspective areas. The training we received was very well balanced as to the many facets of security concerns that the police and private security have to deal with on a daily basis. It was invaluable to learn how the military, law enforcement and private security agencies cooperate and work toward a common goal. I don't know how SSI received approval for such a diverse group of security professionals to share with us their techniques for dealing with terrorist related security issues. The entire staff that SSI utilized all exhibited the up most professionalism.

I have just returned from my third training trip to Israel where myself and other Law Enforcement professionals toured various security sites to learn the Israeli way of Circles of Security, a concept that unfortunately is not practiced very much in the USA. I read the article by Howard Linett on Israel and found it touched on the subject, but that alone will not open our eyes here. The Israelis have certainly perfected, better than anyone, the art of counterterrorism work. They find a balance between a democratic goverment and protecting its citizens. Something that is not easy to do. It's not just as simple as 'shoot the bad guy.' They do fall under scrutiny for their shootings and have strict policies. They have learned by mistakes and past terror incidents how to adjust their procedures immediately to avoid the next attack in the same manner. Their Military, Police and other Govermnent Units communicate together all threats and even warn private security forces in a unique effort to protect the citizens.
For all my brother and sister Officers in the USA, I can only say if you want a true insite into how Israel does it (because it is coming to the USA some day) I suggest you find the money, even out of your own pocket, like I have, and visit Israel with Security Solutions International out of Miami, Florida. They have the best training program you can get in Israel and you will come back feeling you got your mind and money's worth. You will meet incredible instructors and visit amazing sites. If you are serious about counter terrorism training, check them out. As well as the trips to Israel, they offer some US courses and bring in instructors from Israel.

I attended the Homeland Security training course in Tel Aviv, Israel in July of 2005 and I have to say it was very thorough training and real time information relating to terrorist and terrorism.

As deputy chief of the anti-terrorism and explosive devices section of the Jordan International Police Training Center, where we are currently training most all of the Iraqi Police Service (IPS) cadets, it was very beneficial information for me to expand on current training and to expand on our upcoming $1.5 million IED training field that is set to go online in February of 2006.

I would strongly suggest trying to attend any of SSI anti/counter-terror, tactical or special operations training programs. I know you will not be discouraged and will leave the program very confident in what you learned and ready to implement such with your own police colleagues and agencies.
