Academy of Sciences in the United States and a participant in
advisory committees to the administration, especially since
September 11, 2001. His area of professional expertise is
bio-terror. "There is a lot of exaggeration about threats from
chemical or biological weapons in the hands of terrorists," he says
in an interview with Haaretz. "I'm more worried about the danger
that terrorists would have nuclear weapons.
Suicide Terror Seminars held in Florida... a big success
SSI's recently held seminars on the subject of suicide terror
were a big success. Opinions were unanimous that the one-day
training events were very successful. Participants had comments
like: "The best training I have ever had" or "Surpassed every
expectation".
Presented by Tal Hanan, a counter-terrorism
and explosives expert, the seminars gave participants a grounding in
the background and justification of these acts; the modus operandi
of the terrorists, dealing with dangerous combined attacks and even
tips on intelligence gathering techniques for helping to thwart
attacks. Coinciding with the FBI's warning to 18,000 personnel that
they should be on the look-out for suicide terrorists, the seminars
were attended by many different agencies: FBI, US Attorney's Office,
Dept of Homeland Security, US Coast Guard, US Naval Intelligence,
Secret Service, Local Sheriff's Offices and City Police Departments,
Mass transit, Emergency Management, and a range of private
industries from resorts and hotels to security companies and
covererd by Channel 6.
The seminars were endorsed by the
Miami Dade league of Cities, the Greater Fort Lauderdale Chamber of
Commerce, and the Israeli Consulate in South Florida.
