US to spend Billions more to alter Security Systems

After spending more than $4.5 billion on screening devices to monitor the nation's ports, borders, airports, mail and air, the Federal Government is moving to replace or alter much of the antiterrorism equipment, concluding that it is ineffective, unreliable or too expensive.

Homeland Security TRAINING IN ISRAEL filling up fast

The places on SSI's HOMELAND SECURITY TRAINING IN ISRAEL MISSION are filling up fast. Representatives from Federal, State and local law enforcement as well as private industry security chiefs are traveling to Israel to on July 8th. They will be visiting areas of key concern to US Homeland Security and see what Israel is doing to protect schools, malls, ports, airports, stadiums, and critical infrastructure. SSI's President is leaving for Israel next week to review arrangements made by the SSI Israel Office.

EMS Vital to the US Homeland Security Effort

Although present for countless years, terrorism has increasingly been the focus of public concern. Emergency Medical Services (EMS) plays a vital role in responding to, evaluating, and intervening in potentially catastrophic events. EMS often comanages initial scenes in many medium- to large-scale incidents involving large numbers of casualties. Occasionally, EMS also manages the scene until state or federal agencies arrive. Among others, the tragic events of September 11, 2001 underscore the importance of EMS planning and anticipating such events.

SSI launches two new training offerings: Intelligence Gathering and Building Safety

SSI has launched two new training offerings: The first, Intelligence Gathering, is being offered to Terror Early Warning groups and other agencies that want to improve their methods. The second course, is being offered to Building managers and is a two-day program. The first day details the threat of terrorism and the second, presented by one of the foremost US experts in safe design shows what Building managers need to do to safeguard their facilities.
