In addition to training solutions, SSI is committed to
providing the Homeland Security the US deserves. From this month,
there will be a short editorial comment about the state of US Homeland
Security. You are invited to write us and we will publish the best
editorial comments we receive.
THE ACHILLES HEAL OF US HOMELAND SECURITY
In the war on terror, nothing could be worse than shadow-boxing
with the threat posed by the Global Jihad. As was shown in London, the
enemy is determined, bold and organized. So it came as a surprise to
read that New York, the first US City to be victimized by this threat,
instituted "random" searches on its subway system. The purpose of this
according to the Mayor was to avoid any hint of profiling.
It is time to call a spade a spade. If intelligence reveals that
DHS should be looking for 3 Swedes or 4 Chinese or 2 Mexicans, as an
American, I want them to be able to look for the potential terrorists.
If these terrorists happen to be Muslims, then even American Muslims
should feel comfortable in knowing that these terrorists may be
stopped. Yes, it may be an inconvenience to all US citizens but let's
stop the sham of being "politically correct". We are only doing what
the enemy expects us to and aiding them in the process.

Warning: Fourteen Killed in Explosion in Chechnya
Los Angeles Times (07/20/05) ;
Murphy, Kim
Fourteen people were killed and 21 others
wounded by a cunningly designed terrorist attack in northern
Chechnya. Police received a phone call that gunfire had targeted a
jeep in the center of a local town. A team of police officers was
dispatched, and the officers arrived at the scene half an hour
later, discovering a jeep with the body of a police officer in the
front passenger seat. A crowd of bystanders had gathered around the
jeep. When police opened the door of the jeep, 17 pounds of TNT
hidden inside the booby-trapped jeep exploded, killing and wounding
both police and bystanders. Authorities theorize that the police
officer in the jeep had been killed as many as several days earlier
and placed in the vehicle as a ruse to get the police to set off the
explosives. The blast was so powerful that nothing but the jeep's
axles remained after the attack.
New York to educate the public on suspicious
behaviour
Beware the mass transit rider with clenched fists. Or one nervously
feeling under or patting down his or her clothes. Or one who reeks of
too much cologne or perfume.
According to a new police memo, someone looking or smelling that
way -though not particularly odd by New York standards - could be a
terrorist about to strike.
SSI business partner ASI have published an excellent
analysis of the suicide attack phenomena. ASI specializes in complete
security solutions including Risk Assessment and threat and
